Kecak Dance, also known as tari kecak, is a captivating Balinese Hindu dance and music drama. Developed in the 1930s in Bali, Indonesia, it is based on the epic story of the Ramayana. Performed primarily by men, the dance features a circle of up to 150 performers wearing checked cloths around their waists. They rhythmically chant “chak” while moving their hands and arms. The performance depicts a battle from the Ramayana, where monkey-like Vanaras, led by Hanuman, assist Prince Rama in fighting the evil King Ravana.
